Hereditary?

Dieter's dad, Hunter, and the old rake.
When we went to the kennel to meet Dieter, we also got a chance to hang out with Dieter's father, Hunter. Hunter was very friendly and seemed to really love playing with sticks he found on the ground. I noticed Hunter pawing at the ground and was about to comment on it, but before I could open my mouth, here he came, dragging a rake toward us. He was so proud of himself; look at the cool thing I just found to play with!!

Dieter tried to play with the sticks and the rake, too; however, his dad had other ideas. He gave him a little warning growl and a snap. Dieter quickly toed the line.

Fast forward to Dieter living here in Naperville. He's sort of outgrown the attraction to sticks, but for the first month or so all he did was pick up sticks he found in the yard and trot around with them. Then just the other day, he discovered the push broom. He's been cavorting around the yard with it and having a grand old time.

A chip off the old block.
Dieter's push broom.
