We made it!

Well, the three of us--Dieter, Lloyd, and I--made it to Dieter's 1-year birthday. It's been 10 exciting and enlightening months with the little fur ball. There have been a few rough patches--learning about puppies and about Dieter's idiosyncrasies--but all in we're glad we got the little guy.

He officially turned 1 on November 6. As it was a work day for his humans, we had a brief celebration, involving song, a special doggie treat, a new toy, and some photos of Dieter wearing a birthday hat. He says the first part was fine--well, the singing needs some work but he understand we're not in the music business--but the hat-wearing part was just awful.

More is planned for this weekend--a November birthday celebration at Two Bostons and a fancy doggie birthday cupcake back at the house.

I thought it might be fun to see what Dieter's Zodiac sign is and started delving into it. He's a Scorpio and it stated that his Zodiac element is water. Aha! that's why he loves the hose so much. His key
characteristics are: secretive, passionate, resolute, insensitive, steadfast, painstaking, and stubborn. Yup, I can see this in him. Not sure about the secretive part, except maybe when he tries to steal things, like the remote control, that he knows he's not supposed to touch. I guess he's not insensitive, except perhaps when he's showing his affection by gnawing on us. That's a tad insensitive. He definitely is passionate--he loves life and pretty much everyone he meets--and is steadfast, resolute and painstakingly stubborn!! Ah well, he's German after all. I know a little about stubborn Germans...


It says mismatched signs are: Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, and Aquarius. Um, I'm a Leo and Lloyd's a Libra. Perhaps now we have an answer as to why the dog doesn't behave all the time! 


Oh, and Dieter's affirmation mantra is: "I don't need to control everything. I am free and peaceful.

We all need a mantra. Many days mine is: Serenity Now!!
